Just a little update...GP West Racing group just removed Valleyfield off their 2010 race schedule and are now committed to the Detroit race which conflicts with the Valleyfield race date. The possibility still remains that the Detroit race still might not happen if the organizer/promotor cannot find enough sponsorship money. We should all find out if Detroit happens or not by May 1st.

Will GP West go to Valleyfield "IF" Detroit is cancelled?
As the saying goes...to be continued folks....

Hi Michael,

The GP West had a letter of intent to race in Detroit for the date in June. Now that the date had changes to the original date things are in limbo. I talked to Shawn Bridgeman this afternoon (Saturday) and they will make a decision on May 1st. My gut feeling is that she would prefer GP West to come to Valleyfield instead.

Please note that even if Detroit's date was moved, there is still a strong possibility that Detroit may not happen. They are apparently short on sponsorship money. May 1st is the key date to find out if GP West will go to Valleyfield or not.

If GP West do come to Valleyfield, Shawn says at least 6-7 teams would come. They would do (I believe) the Waterford Michigan one week after Valleyfield. Teams who would come would be Hopp, Baker, Schellhaze, Bridgeman, Eckenberg, Warren and possibly Garcia. The new Bob Hall Staudacher built boat will not race this year. If GP West come with 6-7 boats this means 18-19 GP's for Valleyfield. That's at least three strong heats right there....
